IVF/Infertility/Test Tube
Infertility is the inability of an individual to produce offspring, and affects both males and females. Infertility treatment can be treated with medical intervention and a lot of techniques are available for infertility treatment in India. Of late India has become a place of hope for a lot of couples looking for ivf treatment in India. IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilization and goes one step beyond the previous procedures like artificial insemination. IVF treatment in India cures a lot of disorders of sperm counts, ovulation, ovaries or a number of miscellaneous fertility problems that are still unexplained but can be cured with research.
In Vitro Fertility(IVF)
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body: in vitro. IVF is a major treatment for infertility when other methods of assisted reproductive technology have failed. The process involves monitoring a woman's ovulatory process, removing ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a fluid medium in a laboratory. In another form of IVF the eggs from the mother are harvested and fertilized with the sperm of the father and placing the embryo into the uterus of a surrogate mother, who then carries the baby till birth.
Assisted Reproductive Technology
Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is a general term referring to methods used to achieve pregnancy by artificial or partially artificial means. ART techniques are sought by women and childless couples who are not able to achieve pregnancy by natural or surgical methods. A lot of disorders also compel the use of ART like a partner suffering from AIDS, low sperm count of the male partner, low mobility of the sperm of the male partner, women with cervix disorders. Examples of ART include in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), cryopreservation, and intrauterine insemination.
Testicular biopsy
Testicular biopsy is surgery to remove a piece of tissue from the testicles for examination under a microscope. A testicular biopsy may be performed in order to evaluate the ability of the male to be able to make a women pregnant. The testes are very important for reprodcution as they produce the sperm and the male hormones, called the testosterone. A lot of disorders of the male like low sperm count, low mobility of the sperm, abnormal hormonal levels can be examined by a testicular biopsy. A small surgical cut is made through the skin, and a small piece of the testicle tissue is removed. A stitch is used to close the opening in the testicle. Another stitch closes the cut in the skin. If necessary, the procedure is repeated for the other testicle.
Andrology
Andrology is the medical specialty that deals with male health or male infertility, particularly relating to the problems of the male reproductive system and urological problems that are unique to men. Some of the common surgeries under Andrology are vasectomy (permanent birth control by male sterilization) and vasovasostomy( reversal of the vasectomy). Some of the procedures that are performed under Andrology are infertility, testicular cancer, prostate cancer, penis augmentation, penis fracture, testicular cancer etc.
Ovarian Stimulation
Ovarian stimulation (also called controlled ovarian hyperstimulation) is where a regimen of fertility medications are used to stimulate the development of multiple follicles of the ovaries in one single cycle, resulting in superovulation (release of a larger-than-normal number of eggs). It is one of the frequent treatment of choise for infertile women.
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis(PGD)
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD or PIGD) refers to genetic profiling of embryos prior to implantation (as a form of embryo profiling), and sometimes even of oocytes prior to fertilization.
Endometrial Receptiveness genome Analysis(ERA)
The development of endometrial receptivity is a prerequisite for successful embryonic implantation. The Endometrial receptivity genome analysis (ERA) involves assessing a woman's endometrial receptivity status from a molecular viewpoint. The molecular tool allows us to diagnose whether the endometrium is receptive or not, by analyzing the expression of a group of genes responsible for this function.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a procedure where a thin, lighted tube (Endoscope) is inserted into the uterus to examine it for infections, diseases or any abnormalities. The two frequently carried out endoscopy procedures are Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy.
Erectile Dysfunctioning
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis during sexual performance. Its a condition that becomes more pronounced with age and may have either a physical or psychological basis. Social, domestic and relationship pressures can have significant effects. Some of the organic causes are diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, vascular diseases, multiple scelerosis or spinal injury, drug addiction or testosterone deficiency etc. Around 40% of the men hve reported occasional problem of getting and maintaining an erection.
